This handmade quilt will be up for raffle at St. Peter’s Holiday Bazaar on Nov. 18 at St. Mary’s Academy, 1112 Cherry Heights Rd. The bazaar, which has been an annual event for 39 years, opens at 9 a.m.
The Granada Theatre in The Dalles reopened last weekend with “act after act” of Vaudeville, local bands, dancers and country legend music performers in the newly rennovated historic theater, originally built in 1929.

Chenowith Elementary School is putting on the Disney production of “Aladdin Kids” on Nov. 2, 3, 4, and 5, in the school cafeteria. The performances Nov. 2-4 will start at 6:30 p.m., and on Sunday, Nov. 5, the performance is at 2 p.m.
Over 80 schoolchildren from The Dalles were treated Tuesday night to a dress rehearsal by the Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association’s (CGOA) Sinfonietta. The Sinfonietta concert was comprised of musical selections from popular movies — songs the young crowd immediately recognized from Star Wars, Spider-Man and Frozen, to name a few.
The second “I AM…” photo shoot has taken place involving local students and teachers and an exhibit of that work will be available for viewing Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Riverenza, 401 East 10th Street. Keilman Dental Clinic PC created the platform for the I AM campaign that “encourages conversations around our uniqueness and how participants see themselves.”
Pomegranates and their topographical and cultural power will be the focus when artist Yvonne Pepin-Wakefield speaks Oct. 6 at Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River. Pepin-Wakefield, who lives in The Dalles and has an additional studio in Tieton in Klickitat County, will give her free talk at 7 p.m. at the center, 213 Cascade Ave., Hood River.
The Phat Pack, a trio who sing Broadway tunes and were named Best of Las Vegas: Best All-around Performers, perform Monday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. at The Dalles High School auditorium.
Celebration of reopening scheduled Nov. 10 to 12
With work on the exterior of the Granada Theater almost complete, the owners of the historic, 1929-era theater are ready to schedule a “Grand Opening Gala” in November. Mayor Steve Lawrence said the work on the theater has been transformational.
The Wasco County 4-H Fair season has come to a close. It was an extremely eventful August with a pre-fair held Aug. 11–13, horse fair Aug. 18-20, Wasco County Fair Aug. 24-27, and Oregon State Fair Aug. 25 through Sept. 4.
The Wasco County Fair & Rodeo hit high gear Saturday with a second day of rodeo action and a Native American pre-rodeo Pow Wow dance demonstration.
The Wasco County Fair got underway on Thursday with free admission. The fair continues through Sunday, with the rodeo Friday and Saturday evenings.
The huge lines of people waiting to get into the Antiques Roadshow is reminiscent of a line at the airport, only all the people have really cool luggage. The show, now in its 22nd season, was taping in Portland last Saturday at the Oregon Convention Center.
